Georgia Tech Emerges as Surprise ACC Powerhouse in 2025

As of October 11th, 2025, the ACC football landscape has been turned upside down. Five teams currently sit undefeated in conference play, a remarkable feat considering only three of those teams have played more than one ACC game.

At the top of the standings are Virginia (5-1, 3-0), Duke (4-2, 2-0), and Georgia Tech (5-0, 2-0). The Yellow Jackets, in particular, have been a revelation this season. Ranked No. 13 in the nation, Georgia Tech has already secured a significant victory over then-No. 12 Clemson, further cementing their status as a force to be reckoned with in the ACC.

Leading the charge for the Yellow Jackets is senior quarterback Haynes King, who has been nothing short of impressive. King not only leads the team in rushing with 380 yards and seven touchdowns, but he has also completed 68.5% of his passes for 768 yards, three touchdowns, and just one interception.

As Georgia Tech prepares to host Virginia Tech (2-4, 1-1) this weekend, the Hokies will have their hands full trying to slow down King and the Yellow Jackets' high-powered offense. Virginia Tech, which started the season 0-3 and fired head coach Brent Pry, has managed to win two games in a row under interim coach Philip Montgomery, but they will need to be at their best to upset the surging Yellow Jackets.
