Goaltender Frederik Andersen has agreed to a one-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers. Andersen is a recent Stanley Cup champion, having won the title with the Carolina Hurricanes in June of this year. During the playoffs, he recorded a .910 save percentage over 16 games before an injury in the Final.
In the previous regular season, the 36-year-old posted a 16-14-5 record, with a .874 save percentage and a 3.05 goals against average. Andersen has played 35 or fewer games in each season since 2022. Notably, he played under current Oilers head coach Mike Babcock from 2016 to 2019 when both were with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With a career .913 save percentage across 552 games spanning 13 seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, Maple Leafs, and Hurricanes, Andersen brings significant experience. The Oilers also have Tristan Jarry under contract and recently acquired Devon Levi from the Buffalo Sabres.
