France vs. England: Matiu Debuts in Six Nations Showdown
12 Mar
Summary
- Flanker Temo Matiu to make his debut against England.
- France seeks a record eighth Six Nations title.
- England has struggled in the tournament, seeking a win.

Flanker Temo Matiu will make his debut for France in their final Six Nations game against England in Paris on Saturday. Matiu, 24, starts in place of Oscar Jegou, who received a four-week suspension for an eye gouge against Scotland. France suffered a 50-40 defeat to Scotland last weekend, which ended their Grand Slam hopes. However, they can still clinch a record eighth Six Nations title with a bonus-point win.
Fabien Galthie's side sees other changes in the pack, with Emmanuel Meafou starting at lock and Charles Ollivon moving to number eight due to Anthony Jelonch's injury. Pierre-Louis Barassi also comes in at centre for the injured Nicolas Depoortere. Joshua Brennan, son of Trevor Brennan, is named on the bench. Les Bleus are pursuing back-to-back Six Nations titles for the first time since 2006 and 2007. Meanwhile, Steve Borthwick's England has not won a game in the tournament since the opening round, recently suffering a loss to Italy.
