The Orioles, Cubs, Giants, and Mets have been identified as the leading contenders to sign Valdez. While the Cubs boast the league's top infield defense, the Orioles present a compelling fit due to their roster construction and Camden Yards' favorable environment for left-handed pitchers. The Mets also remain a strong possibility.
The pursuit of Valdez underscores the strategic importance of bolstering pitching rotations. His ability to generate ground balls could be maximized by any of these teams' defenses.
