Gary Neville's media enterprise, 'The Overlap', has significantly expanded its influence with the recent acquisition of prominent Manchester United influencer Mark Goldbridge's YouTube channels. Neville, co-founder of Buzz16, aims to establish 'The Overlap' as a premier independent football community, offering direct, personality-driven content.
Launched in 2021, 'The Overlap' platform, which includes the show 'Stick to Football,' has garnered substantial viewership, accumulating 2.2 billion views across all platforms in 2025. Buzz16 also produces content for broadcasters like the BBC and TNT, with ventures into cricket, rugby, and even securing Bundesliga rights.
This expansion follows a majority stake sale of Buzz16 to Global, a major European commercial radio company. Separately, Gary Lineker's production company, Goalhanger, co-founded in 2014, has reportedly earned £14m from a Netflix deal. This partnership will feature Lineker's 'The Rest Is Football' podcast daily during the World Cup from New York.
Goalhanger boasts 250,000 paying members and over 75 million monthly podcast downloads. The company has also partnered with DAZN for Club World Cup action and secured a three-year deal with Spain's La Liga for weekly clips, signalling its continued growth and international ambitions.
