Beyond Balogun's stalled transfer, the club also withdrew from a deal to sell midfielder Lamine Camara to Chelsea, drawing strong criticism for "deeply unprofessional" behavior. Furthermore, Monaco could not finalize the signing of Érik Lira from Cruz Azul, as Balogun's presence occupied the club's final international player spot. Balogun, who joined Monaco in 2023 after developing at Arsenal, scored 19 goals for the club last season and led the USMNT with three goals in the recent World Cup.
