Flamengo's president, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, has indicated a willingness to pursue top European coaching talent, mentioning Jürgen Klopp as a potential target should current coach Filipe Luis decide to move on. Luis, who has guided Flamengo to five titles since his appointment in October 2024, has previously admitted his aspiration to coach in Europe.
Baptista drew a parallel between the club's ability to sign high-profile players and their potential to attract renowned European managers. He cited the recent record-breaking transfer of Lucas Paquetá from West Ham United for €42 million as evidence of Flamengo's growing influence and financial power. Klopp, currently unattached since leaving Liverpool in the 2023-24 season, has been linked with other clubs, including Real Madrid.
The club achieved significant success in 2025, securing titles in the Brazilian Serie A, Copa Libertadores, Campeonato Carioca, and Brazil Supercopa. Baptista emphasized his commitment to making Flamengo a consistently winning club, stating his goal is to create an environment where top talent desires to stay.
