Fiorentina Faces Como: Relegation Battle vs. Champions League Dream

On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Fiorentina will host Como in a Coppa Italia round of 16 fixture. The match at Stadio Artemio Franchi pits two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum: Fiorentina, battling in the relegation zone after a recent loss, and Como, a surprise contender for a Champions League place following a commanding 6-0 victory.

This encounter echoes a previous league meeting where Como emerged victorious with a 1-2 scoreline. Fiorentina's tactical approach in that game involved pressing Como high up the pitch, a strategy that initially troubled the visitors but ultimately proved unsustainable for the entire match.

Analysts suggest Fiorentina's primary challenge will be maintaining confidence and cohesion, especially after a disappointing league performance. Como, on the other hand, is lauded for its high press and dynamic play, making them favorites in this tie.

For Fiorentina, this Coppa Italia fixture is viewed as a 'free hit.' With their main focus on Serie A survival, the pressure is reduced, potentially allowing for experimentation or a less intense performance, while Como aims to continue its impressive season.
