Team Finland has claimed the 2026 IIHF World Championship, defeating Team Switzerland in a dramatic gold medal game decided by Konsta Helenius's overtime winner. This victory marks a significant achievement for Finnish hockey.
Earlier on the final day, Team Norway made history by winning their first-ever Men's Worlds medal, securing bronze against Team Canada. Noah Steen's overtime goal sealed their hard-fought victory after Norway had initially led 2-0.
Mikael Granlund, a key player for Finland, contributed one goal and five assists. He recently joined the team after being unavailable for Ducks exit interviews. Stian Solberg was a crucial defenseman for Norway, averaging nearly 21 minutes of ice time and registering two points, including a goal in the bronze medal game.
Solberg's performance at the 2024 Men's Worlds significantly boosted his draft stock, leading the Ducks to trade up and select him 23rd overall. His physical play and improving offensive game suggest he is a promising prospect for the Ducks' blue line next season.
