His increased attention to the Wolves stems from a burgeoning friendship with coach Chris Finch. The two leaders connected in January, discovering a mutual connection through Premier Sport Psychology founder Dr. Justin Anderson. They also realized they share a common residence in St. Pete Beach, Florida, with Finch noting Shelton's relocation further inland after a hurricane.

Chris Finch, originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, is a self-proclaimed baseball aficionado and a regular attendee of Twins games. He was recently spotted at a Twins game against the Toronto Blue Jays, receiving a warm reception from the crowd. Timberwolves guard Jaylen Clark was also in attendance at the same game. Finch mentioned his routine of attending games in the North Loop, often walking up to purchase a ticket and enjoy a portion of the game.
