- Negotiations between Leverkusen and the coach have begun.

Bayer Leverkusen has identified Filipe Luís as their primary target to assume the role of head coach.
Negotiations with the former player, who has rapidly ascended the coaching ranks, are reportedly in progress. Luís has emerged as Leverkusen's top priority, with concrete backup options also on their shortlist.
The German club intends to officially announce the departure of current coach Kasper Hjulmand only after securing a completed deal with his successor. Under Hjulmand, Leverkusen secured sixth place in the Bundesliga, qualifying for the Europa League.
Filipe Luís began his coaching career at Flamengo in March 2024, initially with the under-17 team, quickly winning the Copa Rio. He was soon promoted to the under-20s, securing a club world title, before taking charge of the senior team in September 2024.
His tenure with Flamengo's senior team was remarkably successful, yielding titles in the Supercopa do Brasil, Campeonato Carioca, Copa Libertadores, and Campeonato Brasileiro in 2025. He also led them to the Intercontinental final. Despite some instability in early 2026, marked by declining performance and internal dissatisfaction, Luís departs as the second-most successful coach in Flamengo's history.
