Hayliegh Tucker and Dylan Catanese clinched the mixed doubles championship at the News Journal Tennis Tournament, showcasing a remarkable speed and dominance. Their strategy of playing exceptionally fast games, especially during the five 20-minute rounds and subsequent mini-set finals, proved unbeatable.
Tucker and Catanese secured the title by defeating Liz and Brennan Skulski 4-1 and then blanking Hannah and Cooper Remy 4-0. This victory was Tucker's second consecutive mixed doubles crown. For Catanese, this win completed a career Grand Slam within the News Journal tournament, adding to his titles in men's singles and doubles.
Catanese, who also excels in pickleball, is currently sidelined from the rest of the tournament due to a dislocated pinkie finger sustained playing football. He noted the importance of his serve and grip strength, despite limited recent play. The siblings Ally and Cooper Brokaw also had a strong showing, with both winning singles titles in their respective leagues.
