Summary
- Ruke Orhorhoro traded to Jacksonville Jaguars.
- Maason Smith heads to Atlanta Falcons in exchange.
- Both players are 2024 second-round draft picks.
The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to trade defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This significant defensive line move brings Maason Smith to Atlanta in exchange for Orhorhoro. Both players were selected as 2024 second-round picks, highlighting a swap of high-potential talent.
Orhorhoro, originally the No. 35 pick from Clemson, emerged last season to start eight games and record 3.5 sacks. Smith, who was the No. 48 pick from LSU, started five games in 2024 and three in the previous season, tallying three career sacks. Smith was noted for his size and physical traits but also for his inexperience.
This trade represents a strategic positional exchange for both teams, involving young defensive tackles with promising but unproven track records. The Falcons gain a player in Smith who was considered a high-upside prospect, while the Jaguars add Orhorhoro to their defensive front.
