Summary
- Albert Park's Turn 6 is now the Mueller-Schmitz corner.
- This is the first time F1 has named a corner after two women.
- The initiative aims to inspire future generations of female engineers.

The Australian Grand Prix has announced a historic first for Formula One's 76-year history, with the 2026 season opener scheduled for March 8 at Melbourne's Albert Park. This event will feature significant rule changes, including new chassis, power units, engines, and aerodynamics.
Notably, for the first time ever, a corner on an F1 track has been named in honor of two women. Turn 6 at Albert Park is now officially the Mueller-Schmitz corner, recognizing Red Bull strategy chief Hannah Schmitz and Haas race engineer Laura Mueller.
This dedication is part of the "In Her Corner" initiative, aligning with International Women's Day. Organizers aim to inspire the next generation of engineers by celebrating women's achievements in motorsport. Laura Mueller expressed hope that this gesture will motivate girls and young adults to pursue STEM careers, while Hannah Schmitz highlighted the importance of curiosity and support in engineering. Mueller, who became the first full-time female race engineer in 2025, and Schmitz, instrumental in Red Bull's recent dominance, are trailblazers in the sport.
