Evan Sisk, a 29-year-old relief pitcher, is experiencing a breakout season for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has recorded an impressive 1.86 ERA, striking out 36 batters over 25 appearances as of June 13, 2026. This performance has earned him recognition as the team's biggest breakout player.
Sisk's success is attributed to his unique delivery, which makes his pitches difficult for opposing batters to read. Although his fastball and cutter are around 91 mph, he has found effectiveness against both left-handed and right-handed hitters. This effectiveness is crucial for the Pirates, who are aiming for the playoffs.
Last season, Sisk posted a 3.57 ERA in 19 games between the Royals and Pirates. His current 1.29 ERA and 2.54 FIP in 23 games in 2026 highlight a significant leap in performance. The Pirates will rely on Sisk's continued strong pitching to achieve their playoff goals.
