Cincinnati Reds fans have reason to celebrate as two-time All-Star shortstop Elly De La Cruz was activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. De La Cruz suffered a right hamstring strain on May 31, ending a streak of 276 consecutive games played.
Prior to his injury, De La Cruz was having a strong season, batting .280 with 12 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases in 58 games. He recently completed a three-game rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Louisville, where he hit a home run.
In corresponding moves, outfielder Will Benson was optioned to Louisville. Additionally, Reds closer Emilio Pagan, sidelined since May 4 with a left hamstring strain, has thrown his second live batting practice session and is slated to begin a rehab assignment on Thursday.
