Coventry City's Ellis Simms is on the verge of representing Poland internationally after officially obtaining Polish citizenship. Previously involved with England's youth setups, Simms, born in Oldham, now qualifies for the Polish national team through his grandmother.
The striker, who previously represented England at the Under-18 and Under-20 levels, had applied for Polish citizenship earlier this year, with his request now approved. He is currently finalizing documentation for his passport, a process expected to be completed soon.
Poland's manager, Jan Urban, has expressed the national team's interest in Simms, particularly as they seek to bolster their attacking options. Urban confirmed that Simms would be considered for a call-up once all formalities, including his passport, are settled.
At the club level, Simms is focused on helping Coventry City maintain their position in the Premier League. After a strong Championship promotion campaign, he is adapting to the demands of England's top flight, recently scoring in a victory against Newcastle.
If selected by Urban, Simms could make his senior international debut for Poland during their upcoming Nations League matches against Romania and Sweden in November.
