Aston Villa goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck has been recalled to the England squad for upcoming matches against China and Ghana. Her inclusion comes as a replacement for Manchester City's Khiara Keating, who is sidelined due to injury.

This selection is particularly significant for Roebuck, as it's her first time representing the Lionesses since shortly after the 2023 World Cup. Her career faced a severe threat due to health issues, including a stroke that occurred six months after England's World Cup final appearance.

Roebuck's stroke, which she stated should have resulted in blindness, was diagnosed after she initially sought treatment for concussion. A blow to the head during training revealed a more serious underlying condition, an infarct in her left occipital lobe, highlighting the unexpected nature of her health crisis.
