4 Jul
Summary
- Eclipse Stakes pits three-year-olds against older horses.
- Constitution River is the strong favorite to win the race.
- Other races include a sprint and a handicap, plus a diversion.
The highly anticipated Eclipse Stakes, a premier Group One horse race, is scheduled to begin this afternoon, presenting a compelling narrative by pitting the Classic generation against older competitors. This event is renowned for highlighting the generational talent in Flat racing.
Constitution River is currently the strong favorite to win this prestigious race. However, the competition is fierce, with formidable four-year-old colts such as Saddadd and Gethin also in contention. Hawk Mountain, another promising three-year-old, demonstrated its potential by finishing close behind Constitution River in a recent French Derby, making it a significant contender.
The race card features additional exciting events, including a Group Three sprint and a competitive one-mile handicap. Furthermore, the Lancashire Oaks, typically held at Haydock, has been relocated to Newmarket due to ongoing track repairs at its usual venue, offering another platform for three-year-olds to challenge older horses.
