East Central Indiana Athletes Excel at State Track Finals

Six athletes and one relay team from East Central Indiana have qualified for the IHSAA boys track and field state finals. These talented individuals triumphed at regional competitions held on Thursday, May 28, earning their spots at the prestigious event. The state finals are scheduled for Saturday, June 6, at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
Among the qualifiers is Carter Campbell of Winchester, who will compete in the 300-meter hurdles. Lucas Eaton from New Castle won the regional high jump title, clearing 6-8 feet. Muncie Central's Jackson Foster achieved a personal best in the discus with a throw of 158-1 feet.
Wapahani will be represented by Grady Mahaffey, the regional high jump champion at 6-6 feet, and Preston McCorkhill, who set a school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.46 seconds. Yorktown's Wyatt Turner qualified in the 1,600-meter run and is also part of the school-record-setting 4x800 relay team, which includes Logan Fulton, Cody Lee, and Thomas Loney.
