Eagles Add Depth With ACL Recovery LB Martin
31 Mar
Summary
- Second-year linebacker Chandler Martin joins the Eagles roster.
- Martin is recovering from a torn ACL sustained in November 2025.
- He is expected to be cleared for the 2026 season start.

The Philadelphia Eagles have bolstered their offseason roster by agreeing to terms with second-year off-ball linebacker Chandler Martin. Martin, 23, was originally undrafted in 2025 but spent time on the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad, playing in 34 special teams snaps before tearing his ACL in Week 13 on November 27, 2025.
An ACL tear typically requires a nine-month recovery. With a successful rehabilitation, Martin is anticipated to be ready for the start of the 2026 season, making his contribution unlikely in the immediate future. The Eagles' decision to offer him a two-year deal indicates their belief in his potential for the long term.
Standing at 5-foot-11 and 229 pounds, Martin is an instinctive off-ball linebacker known for his production in college. He earned two-time All-ACC honors at Memphis, accumulating 206 tackles, 10 sacks, and three forced fumbles in 26 games. Despite his success, scouts noted his lack of size as a reason for him going undrafted.
NFL.com's Lance Zierlein described Martin as a "banger at inside linebacker" with the "violence and instincts teams look for." The Eagles' linebacker corps saw starter Nakobe Dean depart in free agency, with Jihaad Campbell expected to fill a starting role. However, Campbell recently underwent offseason surgery and will miss OTAs and minicamp.
