Eagles' Offense Stalls in Preseason Opener

The Philadelphia Eagles' offensive reserves experienced a difficult preseason debut, losing to the Baltimore Ravens with a final score of 24-7. The team's depth chart players struggled, amassing only six first downs, their lowest total in a preseason game since at least 2019.

Offensive line penalties were a significant issue, with the unit accumulating 55 yards in holding and false start infractions. Backup quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee showed little sign of progress. Dalton's rotation managed just 12 yards in three drives without a first down, while McKee's attempts also failed to generate consistent offense.

Despite the dismal performance, the Eagles did not suffer any injuries, and the starting offense did not participate. However, the lack of production from the backup units raises concerns about the team's offensive depth heading into the regular season.

Looking ahead, the Eagles will have an opportunity to regroup during joint practices with the New England Patriots in Massachusetts. This will be a chance for the starters to get game action and for the team to address the issues seen in their preseason opener.
