Eagles Shock Draft: Trade Up for WR Makai Lemon!
24 Apr
Summary
- Eagles traded up to pick No. 20 to select WR Makai Lemon.
- Dallas Cowboys also involved in the draft day trade.
- Lemon is known for his precise route-running skills.

The Philadelphia Eagles have proactively strengthened their wide receiver corps by trading up to the 20th selection in the 2026 NFL Draft to secure Makai Lemon from Southern California. This move involved exchanging picks No. 23, 114, and 137, along with a seventh-round pick in 2027, with NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys.
General Manager Howie Roseman emphasized that Lemon was a player the Eagles prioritized, having ranked him among their top draft prospects. Lemon, while not possessing elite speed or size at 5-foot-11, 194 pounds, compensates with crafty route-running, physicality, and strong ball skills. His addition comes as the Eagles have acquired several receivers recently, preparing for the anticipated trade of A.J. Brown after June 1.
The Eagles had also shown interest in offensive tackles, but top prospects were selected early in the draft. Lemon's availability at pick No. 20 presented an opportunity the Eagles seized. Notably, the Pittsburgh Steelers were also prepared to select Lemon at pick No. 21, underscoring the competitive nature of the draft. The Eagles successfully connected with Lemon to finalize the selection before the Steelers drafted offensive tackle Max Iheanachor.
