Eagles' Hurts Bench Call: Sirianni Defends QB Amidst Slump
11 Dec
Summary
- Jalen Hurts has thrown four interceptions in recent losses.
- Coach Nick Sirianni denies considering benching quarterback Jalen Hurts.
- Hurts' rushing ability remains a key offensive asset for the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles' offense has entered a rough patch, marked by three consecutive losses since their November victory over the Detroit Lions. This downturn has sparked discussions about potential changes, including the idea of benching quarterback Jalen Hurts.
However, head coach Nick Sirianni firmly rejected this notion during a recent "94WIP Morning Show" appearance. He emphasized his unwavering confidence in Hurts, stating that the team always has a chance to win with him under center. Sirianni highlighted that football is a team game, and wins and losses are collective efforts, not attributable to a single player.
Despite the coach's support, Hurts' recent performance has raised concerns. In a close overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, he completed 21 of 40 passes for 240 yards, threw no touchdowns, and committed four interceptions. While his passing game has faltered, Hurts has shown flashes of brilliance on the ground, rushing for 337 yards and eight touchdowns across 13 games this season, suggesting his running ability remains a critical factor.
