17 Feb
Summary
- Dylan Mingo, a five-star guard, committed to UNC.
- He is the No. 5 player in the 2026 class.
- Mingo has ideal size and strong rebounding instincts.

Five-star guard Dylan Mingo has committed to the University of North Carolina, making his announcement on ESPN's "First Take." Mingo is currently ranked as the No. 5 overall player in the Class of 2026 by the 247Sports Composite. He selected the Tar Heels from a list of finalists that included Baylor, Washington, and Penn State.
Mingo, a 6-foot-5 guard from Long Island Lutheran, becomes UNC's highest-ranked recruit and second commitment for the 2026 class. He joins four-star wing Maximo Adams. Mingo's physical attributes, including a 6-foot-10 wingspan, make him a strong rebounder and disruptive defender, aligning with coach Hubert Davis' preference for positional size.
While Mingo has demonstrated scoring prowess, averaging 19.3 points per game last summer, his three-point shooting efficiency needs development. He shot 23 percent from beyond the arc in grassroots games. Despite this, his ability to navigate ball screens and his rebounding make him a valuable addition. He is expected to compete for a significant role in the Tar Heels' backcourt.
