Larkin Trade List Expands: Dallas Stars Added

Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has reportedly expanded his preferred trade destinations by adding the Dallas Stars to his list. This development comes as general manager Steve Yzerman continues to exercise patience, resisting quick moves and insisting on a trade package capable of altering the franchise's direction. Larkin, who has spent 11 seasons with Detroit without a playoff appearance, is seeking an opportunity to compete for a championship as he enters his prime years.

The original trade list for Larkin reportedly included the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, and Florida Panthers. However, a move to Florida or Vegas presented significant logistical challenges. Minnesota was considered a strong candidate, but the addition of Dallas provides another potential negotiating partner for Yzerman. The Stars recently pursued a trade for defenseman Zach Werenski, indicating a willingness to move assets.

Larkin is under contract for five more seasons with an $8.7 million annual cap hit, making him a valuable asset. However, Dallas's own contract situations, particularly with Jason Robertson, introduce an element of uncertainty. If Robertson were to leave Dallas, the Stars' contender status could be diminished, potentially impacting Larkin's interest. Conversely, if Robertson were involved in a trade with Detroit, the Red Wings would need assurances of his long-term commitment before finalizing any deal.
