Duke has won a major recruiting battle, securing the commitment of five-star small forward Asa Montgomery for the 2027 class. Montgomery, a highly-touted prospect from Hillgrove High School in Georgia, selected the Blue Devils over several prominent programs, including rival North Carolina.
Ranked as the No. 3 player nationally by Rivals, Montgomery brings a versatile scoring and rebounding threat. This past summer, he dominated the Nike EYBL circuit, averaging 27.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He also contributed to the United States' gold medal victory at the FIBA U17 World Cup.
Montgomery's decision marks another key addition for Duke's future under coach Jon Scheyer. He joins previously committed talents Kager Knueppel and Luke Paul, signaling strong recruiting momentum for the Blue Devils.
