Mikael Granlund secured a 2-1 overtime victory for the Anaheim Ducks against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night, finalizing a two-game sweep of their weekend rivalry series. The decisive goal came at 4:02 of overtime, with rookie Beckett Sennecke making a critical backcheck to strip Kevin Fiala of the puck, setting up Granlund's ninth goal of the season.
Earlier, Mason McTavish opened the scoring for the Ducks with his 12th goal, while Adrian Kempe equalized for the Kings on a power play in the second period. Despite strong performances from both goaltenders, Ville Husso for the Ducks and Anton Forsberg for the Kings, the game extended into overtime for the third time in their four meetings this season.
This win marks the Ducks' third straight victory following a nine-game skid. Conversely, the Kings continue to struggle, having lost six of their last seven games. The Ducks also saw the debut of veteran forward Jeffrey Viel, acquired via trade on Friday.
