Summary
- Borussia Dortmund aims to end the international break on a high note.
- Key player Serhou Guirassy is a doubt for Dortmund due to a strain.
- Elversberg aims to replicate their 'heavy metal' style against Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund will host SV Elversberg on Saturday for Matchday 9, aiming for a strong performance before the final international break of 2027. The team is building momentum after a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich and a 2-1 Champions League victory over Real Betis. However, forward Serhou Guirassy is a doubt for the upcoming match due to a strain, though Fábio Silva is ready to step in.
Dortmund's defense remains a key strength, having conceded the fewest goals in the league. Elversberg, in their first-ever Bundesliga season, is known for a bold, attacking style inspired by Jürgen Klopp's era. Coach Vincent Wagner has vowed his team will play without fear, a tactic that could pose a challenge to Dortmund.
Despite recent setbacks in the DFB-Pokal and against RB Leipzig, Elversberg recovered with a 4-1 win over Mainz. Their squad has few injury concerns, with Jan Gyamerah, Luis Seifert, Tom Zimmerscheid, and Noah Darvich being the primary absentees.
