Dončić Nears Suspension After Technical Foul
6 Mar
Summary
- Dončić received his 15th technical foul this season.
- The Lakers star faces a one-game suspension after his next technical.
- Frustration over officiating and free throw disparity was evident.

Luka Dončić is now one technical foul away from a mandatory one-game suspension after being assessed his 15th of the season during the Lakers' recent 120-113 defeat against the Nuggets. The technical was called by referee Dedrick Taylor following a disputed no-call, with Dončić expressing frustration about perceived inconsistent application of the rules.
Head referee Ed Malloy stated the foul was for profanity directed at an official, a common reason for such penalties in the NBA. Coach JJ Redick acknowledged that the team has been discussing limiting interactions with referees, especially given Dončić's proximity to a suspension.
The Lakers also voiced strong dissatisfaction with the game's officiating, particularly concerning the 16 more free throws the Nuggets attempted. LeBron James described the contact on him as 'marginal,' a term he found frustrating. The Lakers' limited free throw attempts, 15 in total, were noted as a significant factor in their inability to secure a road victory.
