32-Year-Old Rookie Scores First NHL Goal, Embodies Perseverance

Dominik Shine, at 32 years old, recently scored his first career NHL goal on March 8, becoming the fifth-oldest player in Red Wings history to achieve this milestone. This accomplishment marks the culmination of an eight-season journey through the American Hockey League (AHL) after signing with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Shine's dedication to hockey has been recognized with a nomination for the Bill Masterton Trophy, awarded for perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication. He faced significant doubts about reaching the NHL, especially as he approached AHL veteran status and considered alternative careers.
