The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated left fielder Teoscar Hernandez from the injured list as of Monday, bringing the team nearly back to full strength on the position-player side. Hernandez had been sidelined since May 29 with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.
Before his injury, Hernandez was having a productive season, batting .276 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs. His return is anticipated to add significant slugging power and lengthen the Dodgers' lineup, according to manager Dave Roberts.
During his rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Hernandez showed signs of his power, hitting two-run homers in three consecutive games. The club intends to gradually reintegrate him, planning to start him in four or five games per week during the upcoming 10-game stretch without a day off.
With Hernandez's activation, outfielder Ryan Ward was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Catcher Will Smith remains the sole starting position player on the injured list due to neck inflammation. The Dodgers had a record of 18-10 during the 28 games Hernandez was unavailable.
