- The NFL star received a two-game suspension for the incident.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf will not be charged by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for an altercation with a fan at Ford Field in December 2025. The office stated that after a thorough review of interviews and video evidence, they declined to issue a warrant or press charges.
The incident involved a 45-year-old Lions fan, Ryan Kennedy, who allegedly approached Metcalf while holding the player's jersey and made comments. Security footage appeared to show Metcalf grabbing Kennedy's shirt and pushing him back; Kennedy did not report any injuries.
Despite the prosecutor's decision, Kennedy has filed a $100 million civil lawsuit against Metcalf, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Ford Field, alleging negligence and defamation. Kennedy's attorney stated that the prosecutor's decision is irrelevant to their civil case, citing resource limitations as a reason for not pursuing criminal charges.
Metcalf's attorney praised the prosecutor's decision, expressing confidence that justice will also prevail in the civil claim. The NFL had previously suspended Metcalf for two games as a consequence of the incident. Kennedy has denied making derogatory comments toward the player.
