Diontae Johnson Seeks Redemption After Being Cut by the Browns

As of August 26th, 2025, former Pro Bowl receiver Diontae Johnson finds himself in a familiar position – searching for a new NFL team. The 29-year-old has been released by the Cleveland Browns, ending his brief stint with the team.

Johnson's career has taken a tumultuous turn since he was traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers in March 2024. Over the past year and a half, he has played for four different teams – the Panthers, Ravens, Texans, and Browns. His 2024 season was particularly forgettable, as he recorded career lows of 33 receptions for 375 yards and three touchdowns while bouncing between rosters.

Hoping to revive his career, Johnson signed a one-year, $1.7 million deal with the Browns in April 2025. However, his time in Cleveland has now come to an abrupt end, leaving him once again searching for a new NFL home.

Despite the setbacks, Johnson remains determined to prove his worth. "I don't like to speak on a lot of stuff. Everybody's going to have their opinions," he said earlier this year. "At the end of the day, I'm the only one in that room that really knows what's going on." Johnson is confident that his five productive seasons with the Steelers, including a Pro Bowl berth in 2021, demonstrate his true potential.

As Johnson embarks on the next chapter of his career, he will look to overcome the adversity that has plagued him in recent years and regain the form that once made him one of the league's top receivers.
