Advocaat Quits Curaçao World Cup Post
23 Feb
Summary
- Dick Advocaat resigned as Curaçao's head coach.
- He cited personal reasons, reportedly daughter's health.
- Fred Rutten will replace Advocaat for the tournament.

Dick Advocaat, the 78-year-old manager, has resigned from his position as head coach of Curaçao. The decision comes for personal reasons, believed to be related to his daughter's health, stating that family priorities supersede football. Advocaat led the Caribbean nation to its inaugural World Cup appearance.
Fred Rutten, also from the Netherlands, will succeed Advocaat as the team's head coach for the upcoming tournament. Advocaat, who managed Curaçao for two years, reflected on the achievement as the most "craziest thing" in his nearly four-decade managerial career. He would have become the oldest coach in World Cup history.
Curaçao is scheduled to commence their World Cup campaign against Germany in Houston on June 14, in a Group E match.
