Soroka's gem shines in D-backs home opener win

The Arizona Diamondbacks secured a 9-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers in their home opener at Chase Field. This win provided a much-needed boost after a challenging series in Los Angeles. The game featured a standout performance from pitcher Michael Soroka in his Arizona debut.

Soroka was exceptional over five innings, allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters, a franchise record for a debut. He capped his outing by recording an immaculate inning in the fifth, striking out three batters on nine pitches. This rare feat has only been achieved by three other Diamondbacks pitchers in franchise history.

Offensively, Corbin Carroll led the charge for the Diamondbacks. He hit a triple that drove in a run and later added a crucial three-run home run in the second inning, contributing to Arizona's commanding early lead. Although the Tigers mounted a comeback with a six-run seventh inning, the Diamondbacks managed to hold on for the win.
