The expansion side Denver Summit FC has secured its first franchise victory, defeating reigning NWSL champions Gotham FC with a 2-0 scoreline this past Saturday. Gotham FC, who began their 2026 season with a win, has since experienced a slump, including a scoreless draw and this unexpected defeat. Head coach Juan Carlos Amorós acknowledged the team's difficulty in scoring first, a factor he identified as crucial for securing results in the league. Defender Jess Carter echoed this sentiment, expressing the team's high standards and disappointment with their current start.
Denver Summit FC will look to build on this success in their upcoming home debut against the Washington Spirit.
