Bryson DeChambeau has once again found himself in the spotlight for an on-course outburst during the LIV Golf Mexico event. This incident occurred just one week after his dramatic final-hole collapse at the Masters, which resulted in him missing the cut. During the first round at Club de Golf Chapultepec, DeChambeau expressed significant frustration over the condition of the rough surrounding his ball.

The golfer's ball landed in a patchy area with grass and exposed mud. Caught on video, DeChambeau was heard complaining about the "destroyed grass" and sarcastically questioning if it was "rough." He even made an ironic thumbs-up gesture to spectators. DeChambeau sought a second ruling opinion, animatedly discussing the situation with officials and his caddie.

Despite his strong reaction and claims that the conditions were "unbelievable," the official ruled that he must play the ball as it lay, adhering to the rules of golf regarding improving one's lie. DeChambeau eventually took his shot, managing to get within six feet of the hole. He finished the round even-par, tied for 29th place heading into Friday.

This latest episode follows DeChambeau's difficult performance at the Masters, where he suffered a triple bogey on the 18th hole in his first round after twice failing to escape a bunker. This contributed to his eventual missed cut. The LIV Golf tour is also facing uncertainty, with reports suggesting it could be nearing abandonment despite substantial investment. Tour executives held an emergency meeting amid these concerns, though CEO Scott O'Neil urged staff to continue their work, indicating funding through the 2026 season.
