The Dubai Capitals have named former Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka as their new skipper for the upcoming International League T20 (ILT20) season. Shanaka, a seasoned T20 all-rounder, brings significant experience and expressed his confidence in leading a balanced squad to play fearless cricket.
Shanaka, who was part of the team that won the previous season, possesses valuable credentials with 1,659 runs and 41 wickets in 117 T20 matches. Head coach Hemang Badani praised Shanaka's calmness, intent, and game understanding, highlighting his ability to lead by example.
The ILT20 is scheduled to kick off on December 2 in the UAE. The Dubai Capitals will face the Desert Vipers in their opening fixture, as they prepare to defend their title in the 2025-26 season.
