Nunez's Shock Liverpool Return Rumors Ignited

Darwin Nunez has been linked with a surprising return to Liverpool, according to reports emerging from his native Uruguay. These claims suggest a move back to Anfield might be agreed upon, though official confirmation is not expected for several weeks. Nunez initially left Liverpool last summer to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in a deal valued at approximately £46.3 million. His tenure in Saudi Arabia has reportedly not met expectations, with earlier reports in February indicating his desire to leave the club after being removed from their 25-man squad.

Despite these rumors of a return, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has countered these reports. Sources close to Nunez have informed him that a transfer back to Liverpool is unlikely. The forward remains focused on his national team's World Cup campaign, and it is improbable that any transfer announcement will precede the conclusion of Uruguay's involvement in the tournament. Nunez's previous spell at Liverpool saw him score 40 goals and provide 26 assists across 143 appearances, departing as a Premier League and League Cup winner.
