Summary
- Daniel Smith's 80 off 26 balls leads Western Province to victory
- Bowlers set up the win, with Valentine Kitime's 50 off 29 balls
- Boland also win their opening match against the Lions

On November 4, 2025, Daniel Smith led Western Province to a four-wicket victory over North West Dragons in the opening match of the CSA T20 Challenge at Newlands. Smith's swashbuckling 80 off just 26 balls was the highlight of the chase, as Province successfully chased down the Dragons' 187/5.
The win was set up by the Province bowlers, with Valentine Kitime striking 50 off 29 balls at the top of the order. Juan James also contributed an unbeaten 25 off 16 balls as Province reached their target with 19 balls to spare.
Elsewhere, Boland also got off to a winning start, edging the Lions by eight runs at the Wanderers. Lehan Botha's 42 off 36 balls and Ferisco Adams' 35-run blitz helped Boland defend a modest 138-run total, with Akhona Mnyaka's exceptional new-ball spell removing the Lions' top three batters.
The duel between Mnyaka and Smith could be one of the key storylines when the two teams meet at Newlands on November 8.
