Summary
- Dani Alves becomes co-owner of Portuguese third-division club.
- He acquired 50 percent of the club's company, with more to come.
- Alves may also play for the team for the next six months.

Dani Alves, the former Barcelona and Brazil right-back, has officially become a co-owner of Sporting Clube Sao Joao de Ver, a Portuguese third-division football club. The club announced his arrival as a significant historical moment. Alves has acquired 50 percent of the club's public limited sports company, with plans to purchase the remaining half later in the current season.
According to reports, the 42-year-old Brazilian, who has not played since January 2023, may also return to the field and play for Sao Joao de Ver for the next six months. This development occurs after his first-instance rape conviction in February 2024 was overturned by a Barcelona appeals court in March last year.
Alves had been in jail from January 2023 until March 2024, when he was released on a one-million-euro bail pending his appeal. The appeals court cited inconsistencies and insufficient evidence to prove his guilt, noting Alves' consistent claim of consensual relations.
