Former Melbourne Victory Academy player Damian Bozinovski is on the road to recovery following a concerning heart incident. The 20-year-old defender collapsed during a NPL Victoria match for Preston Lions on February 15 after clutching his chest.
The incident occurred late in the second half of the game against Oakleigh Cannons. Bozinovski's teammates alerted medical staff and supporters that he was experiencing a heart problem. Club physios quickly attended to him, and the match was paused for 20 minutes as medical officials arrived and transported him to the hospital.
Preston Lions released a statement confirming Bozinovski is in the care of his family and is expected to make a solid recovery. The club also extended thanks to the Oakleigh Cannons for their support during the frightening event. Bozinovski, who recently moved from Melbourne Victory's Academy, had been making his debut for Preston.
