Lockwood, 45, was among 1,500 runners who braved the desert conditions. He has been preparing for this challenge by running ultra-marathons every three weeks since January. His primary motivation extends beyond personal accomplishment, as he is striving to raise £10,000 for St Lawrence School, where his children are students.
Upon completing the race in 409th place, Lockwood shared his immediate post-race desire for a beer and noted the marathon would make for a good story to tell his children. Despite the immense physical toll, he found the experience rewarding, witnessing unique sights he anticipates never seeing again.
