Schlittler a Lock for Cy Young? Finalists Named

Cam Schlittler, Dylan Cease, and Parker Messick have been named the finalists for the American League Cy Young Award. The award appears to be Schlittler's to lose, as the 25-year-old pitcher has delivered a stellar season. He finished with an impressive 1.95 earned run average (ERA) and a 0.92 walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP).

Schlittler also recorded 239 strikeouts against just 49 walks over 193 2/3 innings pitched across 33 starts. He is poised to be a cornerstone of the New York rotation for the foreseeable future. Dylan Cease emerged as Schlittler's primary challenger, recording a 2.40 ERA and 239 strikeouts in 169 innings over 29 starts during his debut season with the Blue Jays. Parker Messick, despite an impressive rookie campaign, is expected to finish a distant third in the voting.
