CSK Targets Finisher, Spinner, and Pacer for IPL 2026 Auction
12 Nov
Summary
- CSK set for major shake-up after dismal IPL 2025 campaign
- Ashwin suggests CSK target David Miller, Rahul Chahar, Mohammad Shami
- CSK need a finisher and chief spinner with Jadeja's rumored exit

As of November 12th, 2025, former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has revealed that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will likely target three key players at the upcoming IPL 2026 auction to plug the holes in their squad. The five-time champions are set for a major shake-up after a dismal campaign in IPL 2025.
Ashwin suggests that CSK will go after David Miller, if he is released by the Lucknow Super Giants, to bolster their lower middle-order. The franchise is also expected to pursue wrist spinner Rahul Chahar and veteran seamer Mohammad Shami to complete their bowling attack, especially with the rumored exit of Ravindra Jadeja.
CSK's infusion of Dewald Brevis into the middle order worked well, but with Jadeja's potential departure and MS Dhoni's waning prowess, the team is left without a designated finisher. Ashwin cites the example of Royal Challengers Bangalore, who prioritized their finishers and acquired Tim David and Romario Shepherd for a combined INR 4.50 crore, to great effect.
The five-time champions are set to head into the auction with a decent purse, with Ashwin's recent retirement from the IPL being a major factor. The franchise is in dire need of a lethal finisher and a chief spinner, should Jadeja be traded to the Rajasthan Royals.
