CSK Targets Aussie All-Rounder Maxwell for IPL 2026 Auction
16 Nov
Summary
- CSK plans to bid for Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, and Andre Russell in IPL 2026 auction
- Maxwell was released by PBKS after poor performance in IPL 2025
- CSK needs a power hitter and finisher lower down the order

According to former India batter Mohammad Kaif, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is likely to target Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in the upcoming IPL 2026 auction. Kaif also believes CSK will go after David Miller and Andre Russell, who were released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), respectively.
Maxwell was released by Punjab Kings (PBKS) after a disappointing performance in IPL 2025, where he scored just 48 runs from six innings at a strike rate of 97.95. Kaif feels that CSK, who are in need of a power hitter and finisher lower down the order, could be interested in acquiring Maxwell's services.
In addition to Maxwell, Kaif also expects CSK to be interested in wrist spinner Ravi Bishnoi, as the five-time champions look to revamp their spin department with the absence of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The former batter believes that Indian spinners will have more buyers than foreign spinners in the upcoming auction.
CSK will enter the IPL 2026 auction with a purse of ₹43.40 crore, and Kaif's predictions suggest they will be active in the market, targeting players who can bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
