A new all-turf baseball practice field has been unveiled in downtown Omaha, with its completion coinciding with the upcoming 2026 NCAA Men's College World Series. This 193,000-square-foot facility, located at Florence Boulevard and Cuming Street, is set to be the main preparation site for teams vying for the championship. The construction was significantly supported by a $30 million shovel-ready grant from the State of Nebraska, which also contributed to the Creighton Softball Stadium completed last year. Additional funding came from donors like the College World Series of Omaha Inc.
The design of the new baseball practice field mirrors that of Charles Schwab Field, Creighton's home baseball stadium, located nearby. This intentional resemblance aims to better orient visiting teams participating in the 'Greatest Show on Dirt.' These athletic facilities, along with an under-construction 40,000-square-foot team center, are part of Creighton University's $300 million 'Fly Together' project, which is modernizing its recreational and athletic infrastructure. The field will also be accessible for community baseball events and Creighton's intramural and club sports programs.
