5 Aug
Summary
- Tyler Guyton, a first-round draft pick, has been named the starting left tackle.
- He will start over Nathan Thomas, who needs to show more consistent play.
- Guyton aims to improve after a 2025 season with a 57.5 PFF grade.

The Dallas Cowboys have officially named rookie Tyler Guyton as their starting offensive left tackle as training camp progresses. Guyton, who was selected with a first-round pick in 2024, will hold the starting position over Nathan Thomas. Coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated that Thomas must demonstrate more consistent play to contend for the role. Guyton is looking to rebound from a 2025 season where he was graded 71st out of 89 tackles by Pro Football Focus, with a pass blocking grade of 50 and a run blocking grade of 64.9.
Guyton's selection comes after a strong offseason showing, which coach Schottenheimer noted began as early as February. He was recognized as an offseason award winner for his dedication. Guyton was initially brought in to fill a significant role following the departure of Tyron Smith. Meanwhile, Nathan Thomas, who received a 39.2 PFF grade in 2025, will continue to develop as a backup. His run blocking showed promise, but pass blocking remains an area needing significant improvement for him to push for a starting position.
