The BCCI is contemplating Tharoor's proposal, with Vice President Rajeev Shukla stating that the scheduling of matches in North India between December 15 and January 15 will be reviewed. This period coincides with domestic tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which also faces disruptions from fog. The aim is to find alternative venues, potentially in South or West India, to mitigate these issues.
This scheduling review comes as several upcoming cricket events are affected. The final T20I against South Africa is scheduled for December 20, 2025, in Ahmedabad. Following this, India will host New Zealand for an ODI series starting January 11, 2026, with matches planned in Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore. Additionally, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel was ruled out of the South Africa T20I series on December 15, 2025, and was replaced by Shahbaz Ahmed.
